Delhi- the Old and the New

Another day in Delhi and again a day of contrasts. Walking through the chaos of Chandi Chowk market, the tranquil lawns of the Red Fort, back into the manic Delhi traffic and then shopping in a posh suburb where jewellery shops are guarded by armed men. Filthy street kids flog copies of the Da Vinci Code at traffic intersections whilst we spend 1300 rupees (AU$60) on cocktails at happy hour at a bar playing the latest MTV offerings. It's only 6:30 and the music is blaring and there are people on the dance floor. Not even 7pm and the place is heaving. Perhaps it has something to do with the girls needing to be home in time so that their reputations remain intact?? I walk out and have to remind myself that I'm in India.
