Party on the border

At the Atari border between India and Pakistan a bizarre ritual takes place everyday when the border between the two rival countries is closed. Complete with pumping dance tracks to muster a sufficient level of patriotism amongst the crowd before the ceremonies begin. One man was insatiable. His need for the beat spurred on by what seemed to only be his love for his country. We all felt like directing this clearly repressed man to the nearest nightclub. But then again...this is India.
Once things got underway there was fierce marching from both sides of the gates cheered on by the crowds in the grandstands. The gate is flung open and the soldiers violently shake hands before the flags on each side are lowered in perfect unison lest one side's flag dip lower than the other's at any one time.
The novelty of the whole affair was extremely puzzling given that these two countries are not the friendliest of neighbours but it seemed to give the punters all a good day out.

After reading your description I can just imagine it. I always thought border closing would be a sombre affair carried out by silent officials - obviously not!
