If there was one thing I could change about winter in Melbourne it wouldn't be the cold. No, it would be the wind. Give me the grey over gale forced any day!! It has been windy for days on end now. The part of the city where I work is particularly notorious for streets turned wind tunnels. I really feel like I could be pushed to the brink of sanity!!
The wind seems to stir up all sorts of emotions and memories not usually at the forefront of my mind. Recollections of opportunities missed, grievances still born, the sting of insults past..... 'If only that job interview had materialised into the job of my dreams, would I still be fighting this battle to remain vertical as I cross the road?' Such are the irrational thoughts that are stirred to the surface with the wind. Missing the green light at an intersection is enough to send me into a tantrum as I battle to keep my handbag from being taken in the breeze and assaulting my neighbouring pedestrian. Maybe my new short 'do' is to blame for my heightened irritation. Unable to fasten my hair safely to my head, I have long given up the battle to keep my locks disciplined. My hair swirls upwards along with the litter, umbrellas and dignity.
Fingers crossed that the days ahead bring calmer weather.

How interesting it is that on my part of the world, a late afternoon breeze is wished for to relieve the sweltering heat that builds as the day progresses. I recently finished a little book called "The Education of Little Tree" by Forest Carter. If you have a chance, I would recommend it. Not only does it gorgeously explain the reason for that inconvenient gust of wind - but is a sweet little book so different to anything I have ever read. I think you would like it.
Thanks for the tip Anna. Great to see that you've been reading my blog. Still waiting for your online presence... You wouldn't have to resort to discussing the weather in your blog like I have!!
Ok - I guess it's only fair that I let the person who inspired us to start our blog to actually see it! I gave the address to Anna the other day but regretted it - too many drunk photos of Cam!!! But anyway..here goes... Don't judge your apprentice too harshly...
